The Regional Council is ready to serve you!

From 7 – 10 December 2023, incoming members of the Zone 8 Regional Council participated in an intensive learning and development program, tailored especially to equip them with the skills and knowledge they need to lead and represent Zone 8.

In a series of interactive workshops, the program covered essential topics such as:

  • How the Regional Council can work with Rotary and Rotaract clubs and members to help them thrive

  • The roles, objectives and scope of the Regional Council

  • The relationship between Rotaract and the Regional Council

  • How the Regional Council can work with Districts to ensure Rotary and Rotaract achieve their goals throughout the Zone

Facilitated by incoming Rotary International Zone 8 Director Jennifer Scott AM, the program gave Regional Council members a chance to get to know each other and establish strong working relationships.

Pilot Steering Group Deputy Chair Ingrid Waugh and staff members from the Rotary International South Pacific and Philippines Office (RISPPO) were also present throughout the four days.

Incoming Regional Council Chair Dallas Booth says the Regional Council team is excited to begin serving Rotary and Rotaract clubs and members.

“It was wonderful to have the eight current members of the Regional Council together to develop an understanding of their roles and objectives, and to learn how the Regional Council will operate within the existing Rotary framework across Zone 8,” says Dallas Booth.

During their learning program the Regional Council members took some time to visit Medishare, a Rotary organisation that sources suplus medical supplies and redistributes them to communities in need.

The Regional Council team worked together to fold hundreds of hospital blankets, ensuring the blankets are ready to be packaged and transported as soon as they are needed.

“MediShare is a great example of what Rotary and Rotaract members can achieve when we collaborate to make a very real difference for people in need in our area, our Zone and around the world,” says Dallas Booth.

The Regional Council looks forward to working with clubs and members to enhance Rotary and Rotaract’s impact throughout the diverse countries in Zone 8.
